Trek’s most popular trail bike is now even better thanks to wider tires for better traction, increased travel, and lower, slacker geometry for a more aggressive ride.
The new mid-fat Fuel EX is ideal for new riders seeking stability and confidence-inspiring traction as well as for more experienced mountain bikers looking to tackle more technical trails. Available in both Alpha Platinum Aluminum and OCLV Mountain Carbon.

On the Fuel EX 27.5 Plus, you get new 27.5 x 2.8" Chupacabra tires paired with a 40mm rim, giving you a delightful balance between fat bike traction and trail bike agility. Mid-fat tires are the next big thing in mountain biking, and Trek has redesigned their popular Fuel EX from the ground up so that every aspect of the bike complements the wider tire.
Up front, the Fuel EX 27.5 Plus features 140mm of suspension travel. In the rear, the bike features 130mm of travel (an increase from 120mm in Fuel EX previous models). Boost axle spacing is also included on both front and rear hubs, allowing cyclists to hit the trails hard while staying comfortable and remaining in control of their ride.
This bike is built to handle wider tires without sacrificing the quickness and liveliness that you crave in a suspension trail bike. The lower and slacker geometry will allow you to conquer steeper, looser trails with speed and style that you’ve only dreamed of, and Trek’s Mono Link offers adjustable high/low geometry settings so that you can fine-tune your ride.
